Forward Thinking

WEEK 4 OCTOBER 2012

A great exercise I give many of my clients to make them aware of their thoughts, is to have them put post-it notes with the letters CYT around their home and work, or for athletes, in their locker and with their training gear, etc. CYT stands for “Catch Your Thoughts”. It is said we have about 80,000 thoughts a day. What are you spending your time thinking about? Do you think about the past, the present or the future? A key success strategy of peak performers is to focus on where you want to go, and think about it, and visualise it daily. I have talked a lot about being present or in the now over many posts, and today my challenge to you is to also think forward.

Remove those old postcards from your fridge door. They are where you have been. Replace them with postcards of where you want to go.

Worry compounds the futility of being trapped on a dead-end street. Thinking opens new avenues.

I skate where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.

Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer.

Think ahead. Plan to win.  See it daily.
Have a great week and be Extraordinary.
