WEEK 1 JULY 2012

It’s that magical Wimbledon time of year again. I was lucky enough to be on centre court the other day to see Rosol beat Nadal. Rosol had lost first round of qualifying in the last five years at Wimbledon and this year he was up against Nadal who had made the final the last five years running and also been a finalist in the previous four Grand Slams and just 17 days earlier had won the French Open. It was regarded as one of the biggest upsets in the 135 year history of the game. It was the most amazing display of tennis I have seen in a long time and  I have seen my share of great matches over the years! Although he did not win again in the next match, it is a timely reminder to persevere and never give up in order to achieve your greatest victories.

I do not think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.
John D. Rockefeller

If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination. The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying. “Here comes number seventy-one!”
Richard M. DeVos

I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career.  I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time according to the National Basketball Association.

And on a lighter note

Consider the postage stamp. Its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing until it gets there.
Josh Billings

Are you giving it your all to succeed? Edison failed 10,000 times before he made the electric light. Don’t be discouraged or give up if you fail a few times. It is your attitude, your commitment, your dedication and perseverance, that determines your ultimate success. Work hard and make sure you enjoy the journey too!

Wishing you quintessential success
