QUOTE 14, AUGUST 2015
I have just finished reading Arianna Huffington’s book, Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom and Wonder. A fabulous book I recommend.
Here are some quotes from her book to get you thriving.
Our eulogies are always about the other stuff: what we gave, how we connected, how much we meant to our family and friends, small kindnesses, lifelong passions, and the things that made us laugh. So why do we spend so much of our limited time on this earth focusing on all the things our eulogy will never cover?
What is success? It is being able to go to bed each night with your soul at peace.
And whenever I’d complain or was upset about something in my own life, my mother had the same advice: “Darling, just change the channel. You are in control of the clicker. Don’t replay the bad, scary movie.”
Everything you do, you’ll do better with a good night’s sleep.
According to a study from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, sleep deprivation reduces our emotional intelligence, self-regard, assertiveness, sense of independence, empathy toward others, the quality of our interpersonal relationships, positive thinking, and impulse control.
Predictable Time Off (PTO) – take a planned night off—no email, no work, no smartphone.
Recognizing when habits are no longer working for us and sacrificing them is a cornerstone of wisdom.
People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills… There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind…So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
Pay greater attention to your well being and Thrive!
Have an awesome week.
Love and blessings
