10 Wonder Foods
QUOTE 8, APRIL 2014
I have just enjoyed a few wonderful days at Don Tolman’s Basecamp for health up on the Gold Coast. I have studied nutrition for years, have done raw food courses, and always eaten a healthy diet and have at least 10 superfoods daily in my morning smoothie, but you can never stop learning! Our health is our greatest wealth. Taking care of your own body, your temple should always remain a top priority so you can be the best you for yourself and others.
Here are a list of some of natures great wonder foods. There are more than 100, so here are ten of the most critical.
1 Raw salt
Salt is third most essential of life (after oxygen and water). It is vital for extracting the acidity out of our cells, especially our brain cells. It balances the sugar levels in our blood; it regulates blood pressure, in conjunction with water, it generates hydroelectric energy in your body’s cells, it cure’s infections, inflammations, nerve dysfunction, and that is just a few of the many functions! And it tastes fantastic on foods. Be sure to only eat crystal or Himalayan salts to get the greatest benefits and more energy.
Lemon juice is not only a digestive aid and liver cleanser (making it great for weight loss), it also has strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immume boosting powers. Lemons are rich in Vitamin C and a great alkalizer for your body. They also help increase good HDL cholesterol levels and contain 22 anti-cancer compounds.
An apple a day really does keep the doctor away. Apples are loaded with quercetin and catechin, which protects cells from damage, which means a reduced risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Be sure to eat the skin as research shows the apple peel contains five times more polyphenols than the flesh and also has lots of fibre too.
4 Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Healthy inside and outside. It is loaded with antioxidants and one of the best foods to fight inflammation. Your skin, joint and intestines will love you. It will help to lower your LDL (bad cholesterol), reduce hypertension, reduce oxidative damage to cells and improve glycemic control. Be sure to read the labels. Real extra virgin olive oil is 100% natural. Many of the lower quality olive oils have been processed and adulterated with cheaper oils.
5 Raw Honey
Great for the brain, pancreas, joints and more. Buy raw, not the commercial honey in supermarkets as it has been pasteurised and the enzymes are usually all destroyed. It has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It promotes body and digestive health, is a powerful antioxidant, strengthens the immune system, eliminates allergies, and is an excellent remedy for skin wounds and all types of infections and great for treating respiratory conditions.
6 Coconut Oil
This food feeds all of the cells of the body, even the skin. It is a healthy fat, (converts into energy for the brain and muscles, rather than being stored as fat, eases digestion, supports immunity, boosts metabolism, improves insulin secretion and utilisation of blood glucose, supports thyroid function, among so many other benefits.
7 Raw Cacao
This the Number 1 longevity food in the world! The raw cacao bean is one of nature’s most fantastic superfoods due to its mineral content and wide array of unique properties. As many of these are destroyed by cooking, refining, and processing, planet Earth’s favourite food is still unknown to most of us. It is the best natural food source of antioxidants, magnesium, iron, chromium, manganese, zinc, copper, Vitamin C, Omega-6 fatty acids, and many more nutrients. This is a food plant that targets the neuro-chemistry of emotions such as happiness and joy.
8 Apple Cider Vinegar
Heals so many things. It regulates the pH of your skin, soothes a sore throat, helps to lower cholesterol, prevents indigestion, aids in weight loss, clears blocked noses, whitens teeth, great for detoxing and excellent for washing fruits and vegetables too to get rid of chemicals and pesticides. It is a miracle product that can be used in so many ways.
Potatoes are not about carbs anymore. They aren’t even used by the cells as nutrient. They swell up like sponges in the lymphatic cleansing stream of the body…they can even clear asbestos from the lungs. They are also great to reduce inflammation, increasing brain function and help to fight heart disease too. Don’t discard them. Recent new research has revealed they contain 60 different types of phytochemicals and vitamins in the skins and flesh and their phenolic content rivals that of broccoli, spinach and brussel sprouts.
Organic raw diary and cheese, organic beer and organic wine. Organic raw: Nature’s miracle foods is what ferments really are. They balance the microbiomes (the microbes that out number the 10,000 trillion cells of the body 10 to 1).
Have a wonderful week. As the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates (460-377 BC) said “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.
