Acknowledge and Celebrate

JUNE 2018

Can you believe we are now half way through the year? Often this is a time to take stock and set goals for the coming 6 months. Also be sure to take some to time to acknowledge all you have achieved. We get so focused on our goals and aiming to keep improving and reaching higher, that often we forget to stop and reflect from where we began. How often do you acknowledge yourself and celebrate your wins? Don’t just give yourself a pat on the back. Really celebrate and do something special for you.

 

Remember to celebrate the milestones as you prepare for the road ahead.

Celebrate the little things too

In my work with elite athletes, I am always noticing how great they are at putting themselves down, beating themselves up when they lose a point, getting angry and frustrated at not doing their best and yet when they are performing great, you rarely see them doing the opposite and acknowledging themselves. As I say, you are outstanding at doing the opposite, so it is a really easy skill to develop!   Celebrate the little wins, the things you did well each day, not just the results.

Remember no one makes it alone.  Have a grateful heart and be quick to acknowledge those who help you.

Daily Challenge 
Acknowledge one thing you did really well today. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Set yourself up for success. It could be as simple as acknowledging a great night’s sleep, stopping for a moment and just being, finishing a project, doing a great practice session or honouring yourself and saying No to something!

Even if times have been tough
We should take our own experiences and grow from them to celebrate what they have taught us. What we have endured before enriches who we are now. It’s the deep waves of life that teach us to be better swimmers. Every experience is a stepping stone to greater success and higher understanding.

Make time to reflect on the last 6 months

Write down all those things you achieved, all you learned from the losses or setbacks and the wisdom you gained. Acknowledge you. Appreciate you. Reward yourself and enjoy the celebrations.
