WEEK 2 – FEBRUARY 2009
Back in my home state of Victoria, bush fires continue to rage in what has been the worst ever natural disaster in Australia. Over 170 have lost their lives, thousands are homeless, and more than 330,000 hectares have burnt out. My heartfelt prayers go out to all those affected, their loved ones, the communities and to all the amazing people out there fighting even more fires, and helping the lucky ones that survived. It is a timely reminder to us all to never take the precious gift of life for granted.
One doesn’t recognize in one’s life the really important moments – not until it’s too late.
Agatha Christie
Life is a journey not a destination.
While faith makes all things possible, it is love that makes all things easy.
To all those incredibly brave fire fighters, emergency workers, volunteers and police who risk their own lives to protect us, thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the real heroes.
Give thanks for everything, for life, for another day, for your family, friends, and all around you.
