Sam Walton

WEEK 2 – MAY 2008

A child of the depression, Sam Walton came from humble and hard working roots. As a pioneering retailer, he made the discount shopping store a phenomenal success in America. His shrewd business plan included cutting cost to the absolute minimum, thus passing the savings on to the customer. This along with advanced computerization and automated distribution centres, became key to the success of Wal-Mart. Today his empire has grown to over 3000 stores with sales over $104 billion and his enterprising and innovative dream continues to grow.

Individuals don’t win. Teams do.

High expectations are the key to everything.

Appreciate everything your associates do for the business. Nothing else can quite substitute for well-chosen, well-timed, sincere words of praise. They’re absolutely free and worth a fortune.

Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it’s amazing what they can accomplish.

Hope your week is a brilliant one.

With love
