Set DUMB goals, not SMART goals

QUOTE 15, AUGUST 2015

For years we have heard people talk about setting SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Bound). However, people who really achieve a lot are focused on a different level of thinking, according to Brendon Burchard, one of the top motivation trainers in the world and New York times best selling author. They set DUMB goals and pursue dreams that inspire them; they look for methods to accomplish their goals faster and trigger behaviors they can do all the time to help them get there.

 D – DREAM FOCUSSED
There is no fire and joy in a to do list! What is something you really want to do? What challenges you? What fires you up? Think bigger for your life. If you had that, you would feel more more vital, more fulfilled. Get back to things that matter to you. What can you do to make a difference? To be the best you? What are your dreams?
All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
Walt Disney

U – UPLIFTING
What would really be uplifting in your life? Start dreaming! Think about something that will bring you hope and joy.  Set a vision that inspires you.                                                   The great essentials to happiness in this life is something to do, someone to love and something to hope for.                                                                                                                     Joseph Addison

M – METHOD BASED
Behind every great goal, there needs to be a method or routine to accomplish it. What method do you need to use to accomplish your goal? For example, if you wanted to get healthy, you might choose a specific diet and do a set of exercises to get there.                  Winners take control of their thoughts, their daily routines, their goals and their  lives.                                                                                                                                           Denis Waitley

B – BEHAVIOR TRIGGERED
Set up triggers of behavior that fire you to do something. When one thing happens, it fires you to take action. For example, one of my goals is to live with gratitude, and so every time I see a magpie, I am grateful. And I see them many times a day! Oprah, for example, has written a gratitude journal every night before she goes to bed. What will be your trigger?
Make great habits and they will make you.

Set DUMB goals and be inspired to be Extraordinary!

Have a great week.

With love and gratitude

Ann
