WEEK 3 – SEPTEMBER 2006
STEVE IRWIN
It has been a sad time in Australia with the tragic passing of a great Australian legend Steve Irwin, who was fatally wounded by a stingray while filming an underwater scene off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef just two weeks ago. He was a fabulous ambassador for all Australians, a great entertainer and a conservationist who won people’s hearts all over the world. Because he was so Aussie and so passionate, just about everything Steve Irwin said was educational and inspirational.
I believe that education is all about being excited about something. Seeing passion and enthusiasm helps push an educational message.
I have no fear of losing my life – if I have to save a koala or a crocodile or a kangaroo or a snake, mate, I will save it.
Yeah, I’m a thrill seeker, but crikey, education’s the most important thing.
Fear helps me from making mistakes, but I make lot of mistakes.
Where I live if someone gives you a hug, it’s from the heart.
“Crikey!” (means gee whiz, wow!)
Thank you for YOU, Steve. You will live on forever in our hearts.
With love and gratitude
