WEEK 1 MAY 2011
It was indeed a wonderful day of celebration here in London last Friday for the long awaited Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton and what a beautiful and moving wedding it was. Catherine looked so radiant and her wedding dress was simply stunning. The poignancy of the occasion came to life too, in the choral works which echoed so resonantly around the magnificent Gothic splendour of Westminster Abbey.
In the words of Prime Minister, David Cameron
“We’re quite a reserved lot, the British, but when we go for it, we really go for it.”
Equally moving was the sermon by the Bishop of London, Dr Richard Chartres.
“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” So said St Catherine of Siena whose festival day it is today. Marriage is intended to be a way in which man and woman help each other to become what God meant each one to be, their deepest and truest selves.
A special prayer was composed by the happy couple themselves, which says so much about what is important.
In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy.
In the words of Richard Bach
True love stories never have endings.
