The Power of the Reset

JULY 2026

It has been another wonderful few weeks at Wimbledon, watching some of the world’s best players compete on one of sport’s greatest stages. As I wandered around the courts, I was reminded of a lesson that extends far beyond tennis. I watched players experience every possible emotion within a matter of minutes.

One point they were brilliant.

The next they were frustrated.

One moment they believed they could win.

Five minutes later they were wondering what had happened.

The difference isn’t that champions never lose momentum.

The difference is they never stay there for long. They reset.

One of the most important skills I teach my athletes is the ability to reset.

Not after the match.

Not tomorrow.

But in the very next moment.

You can’t change the last point, but you can win the next one.

Life is no different.

We all experience setbacks, disappointments and days when things don’t go according to plan. A conversation doesn’t go well. A business opportunity falls through. We make a mistake, lose confidence or find ourselves questioning the path we are on. Sound familiar?

The question is never: Will life challenge me?

The real question is: How quickly will I choose to reset?

As author T. S. Eliot wisely wrote Every moment is a fresh beginning.

As we begin the second half of the year, perhaps this is the perfect opportunity for your own reset.

Not because you’ve failed.

Not because you’re behind.

But because growth is never a straight line. It is a series of adjustments, learnings and fresh beginnings.

Take a moment to pause.

  • Reflect on how far you’ve come.
  • Celebrate your wins, no matter how small.
  • Learn from the setbacks.

Then move forward with renewed energy, clarity and belief.

As I often remind my athletes, it isn’t the setback that determines their future.

It’s what they choose to do next.

It’s not the setback that defines your future.

It’s the reset.

Every sunrise is an invitation to begin again.

Reflection

As you begin the second half of the year, ask yourself:

  • What do I need to let go of?
  • What deserves my very best energy?
  • Who do I choose to become over the next six months?

Remember, a reset is not about starting over.

It is about starting again with greater wisdom, greater courage and greater belief in yourself.

Every day gives us another opportunity to choose our attitude, our actions and our direction.

Perhaps the second half of the year isn’t about trying harder.

Perhaps it’s simply about choosing the reset.

Reset your mind.
Renew your energy.
Reconnect with your purpose.
Then Be Extraordinary.

The second half of your year begins with one decision… to reset.
