Greetings from Chengdu, China. I am here for the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals, mentoring all the champions of tomorrow – the top 8 boys and 8 girls in the world. It is such a great honour to help such dedicated young professionals. They are from all over the globe including Mexico, Bulgaria, China, France, Russia, Austria, Italy, Serbia, USA, Czech Republic, Japan and Slovakia. They are from such different backgrounds and yet they all have one common goal, to be the best. Here are a few inspirational quotes both from my mentoring with the players but also interspersed with some wonderful Chinese proverbs and wisdom from 4000 years of civilized history.
INSPIRATION FROM CHENGDU
Life is really simple but we insist on making it complicated.
Focus on the little1% improvements you can make. Plan and prepare in detail. It is the little differences that make the BIG difference.
A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.
Our losses are our greatest lessons. Learn from them. It is an opportunity to grow and improve.
Dig the well before you are thirsty.
Recover to Win. Do it daily, after every training session and match.
Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success.
Believe to Succeed. Tennis is a mental game. We are what we think we are. Don’t feed your mind with rubbish. What you focus on, you become. Anything is possible if you truly believe.
Seeing it once is better than being told 100 times.
Winners see what they want to happen daily. Losers see what they fear might happen. Feel your success too. It is like adding the soundtrack to a movie. Live in the certainty that you already have what you want.
Wishing you quintessential success and wisdom.
Love from Chengdu
