QUOTE 5, MARCH 2013
“Life is a journey, not a destination.” This has always been one of my favourite quotes. Over the years, I have seen so many athletes and executives achieve their dreams and then it is over and onto the next one. All the hard work, sweat and sacrifices along the way are soon forgotten and the joy of achievement too. It is the journey to your success that really counts. Are you enjoying your journey?
When you are striving for something that is important to you, it may seem like the be-all and end-all. Let me now assure you that it isn’t. While we are all trying to win, it isn’t everything. It is about doing your best. It is about enjoying the journey. Enjoy the highs and don’t forget the lows. Lock them away in your memory and use them as your motivation in all facets of your life.
Daniel Kowalski, Olympic and World Swimming Champion
Begin difficult things while they are easy.
Do great things when they are small.
The difficult things of the world must once have been easy;
The great things must once have been small.
A thousand mile journey begins with one small step.
Success is not a harbour but a voyage with its own perils to the spirit. The game of life is to come up a winner, to be a success, or to achieve what we set out to do. Yet there is always the danger of failing as a human being. The lesson that most of us on this journey never learn, but can never quite forget, is that to win is sometimes to lose.
Live in the present moment. It is possible to think too much. The less you worry about winning and what other people think, the better you perform.
Make each day an enjoyable one. Have fun, do all things with love, use your best things, wear your favourite outfit more often, live in the moment, enjoy the little things you love, treat yourself, catch up with friends, be mindful, play, do something special and really enjoy the journey. Work can wait!
