French Open

WEEK 1 – JUNE 2007

Bonjour from the French Open again this year. Coming on a short train ride from London sure beats a 25 hour plane ride from Melbourne! It is always wonderful to be back in this beautiful city and to see old tennis friends from around the world.

Here are some great words of wisdom this week from French philosophers, writers and a poet.

Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.
Voltaire

Come to the edge, he said. They said: We are afraid. Come to the edge, he said. They came. He pushed them and they flew.
Guillaume Apollinaire

Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.
Voltaire

None, but people of strong passion are capable of rising to greatness.
Comte de Mirabeau

Will say Au revoir this week with some great questions.

What are you most passionate about?
Are you playing your cards so that you are winning?

With love from Paris
