Mother Theresa

WEEK 3 – MAY 2008

Mother Teresa is revered for her lifelong dedication to the destitute and poor. By the time of her death in 1997, her Missionaries of Charity were operating 610 missions in 123 countries, including hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis, soup kitchens, children’s and family counselling programs, orphanages and schools. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and following her death she was beatified by Pope John Paul II and given the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence…We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.

In this life we cannot do great things.
We can only do small things with great love.

Peace, love and blessings
