JUNE 2026
It is always special to be back in London at this magical time of year. Wimbledon is still a week away but preparations on the grass are well underway for all the players. Having been fortunate enough to work with a few Wimbledon champions over the years, I know that what the world sees over the next fortnight is only a tiny part of the story.
As I wander around the practice courts watching players prepare for the biggest tournament in the world, I am reminded that extraordinary success is rarely built under the spotlight. It is created in the thousands of unseen moments that nobody ever applauds.
THE HIDDEN SIDE OF SUCCESS
1. The Little Things are the Big Things
Everyone sees the trophy.
Nobody sees the early mornings, the extra practices working on the little adjustments, the tough gym sessions, the speed and agility workouts, the recovery sessions, the healthy meals, the journaling, the mental preparation, the visualisation, and all the commitment to doing the basics exceptionally well.
Success is built long before it is revealed.
Robert Collier
2. Consistency Beats Intensity
Many people can be motivated for a day.
Few can stay committed for years. They are the ones who keep going through the setbacks, injuries, losses and disappointments that inevitably arise on the journey. In tennis, it can take years of dedication just to break into the Top 100 and earn the opportunity to compete in the Grand Slams.
Champions are not made by occasional bursts of brilliance but by showing up day after day, especially when they don’t feel like it.
Billie Jean King
The true measure of a person is not how they perform when the spotlight is on them, but how they behave when nobody is watching.
Do you keep your standards?
Do you honour your commitments?
Do you do the right thing anyway?
Paul Bryant
The hardest part of any journey is continuing when there is little evidence that your efforts are paying off.
Seeds grow underground before they emerge above the surface.
The same is true for confidence, mastery and success.
Keep planting.
Keep watering.
Trust that your work is creating something extraordinary.
Victory belongs to the most tenacious.
Rafael Nadal
.
One of the biggest reasons people give up on their dreams is that they cannot see their progress.
A player may train for years before breaking through.
A business may take years to gain momentum.
A new habit may take months before it feels natural.
Just because you cannot see growth does not mean growth is not happening.
The roots grow long before the tree appears.
Napoleon Hill
As I walk around Wimbledon, I see players chasing their dreams on some of the most famous courts in the world. Some are established champions. Others are taking their very first steps onto this stage.
Yet I know their success was not created here.
It was created in the quiet moments nobody saw.
The early mornings.
The setbacks.
The sacrifices.
The countless days of simply showing up and doing the work.
.
Whatever dream you are pursuing, remember that every small action matters.
Keep going and focus forward.
Trust the process.
One day, the world may see the result.
But you will know where it was really built.
In the quiet moments nobody sees.
Be Extraordinary.
