JULY 2022
Back home again after my first trip overseas in two years since pre-Covid and it was an Extraordinary trip. Instead of the usual inspirational quotes this month, I wanted to share a story with you.
MY CINDERELLA RIDE

Going to the Wimbledon Championships Dinner is always a very special occasion. For players, you only get invited if you make the Finals and you only go if you win! I have been lucky enough to have gone to a few of these. Now Wimbledon actually give you a dress (they had an amazing selection ready to try on in the Women’s Change Rooms after the Final finished).  It was quite different from my first time back in 1987 when I had to rush out and buy a dress the day before the Men’s Singles Final, not knowing if Pat Cash would win or not, and thus if we were going or not going! Not only do Wimbledon now supply a dress, but also shoes, bag and jewellery! Absolutely amazing.
.
I had to catch a cab to get there and I called nine companies and uber a few times too (on a Sunday night for a 9.30pm start) and nothing was available and I could not even book. All my English friends did not live anywhere close so I had no option but to start walking (45 min) in long gown and high heels! Through streets and parks, I have never had so many compliments!  It was hilarious. I reached Church Rd (where The All England Club is located) and there was still a good 20 minute walk ahead and a dear lady drove past me and stopped and offered me a lift, realising I was probably headed to the Dinner. She was wearing Wimbledon clothes so I felt totally fine, never having accepted a lift before from a complete stranger.  Then when I arrived at the gate, there were golf buggys ready for all attendees so I arrived in style and still had time to spare!
.
It was an awesome start to a great night – celebrating all the Winners of this year’s Championships. I was there with Shingo Kunieda, my client of over 16 years who won his first Wimbledon Men’s Singles Wheelchair title, and also the Doubles title. Then to top it off, it was his 50th Grand Slam. INVINCIBLE! It has been an incredible year for Shingo having won Gold in Tokyo, the US Open, Australian Open, French Open and now Wimbledon, culminating in a Career Grand Slam, a Career Golden Slam and a Career Super Slam – and another three Guinness World Records!

DREAMS DO COME TRUE – Beginning work with Shingo back in 2006 One of my first sessions with Shingo back in 2006 in Kashiwa was to start dreaming and create a powerful statement of what he wanted to be. He did not even speak any English back then and our sessions were all conducted through an interpreter, thanks to the wonderful suppport from the TTC Club. He told me he wanted me to become World # 1 and Be Invincible! He has certainly achieved that becoming the GOAT of Men’s Wheelchair Tennis.
.
More importantly, he took the actions daily along the way, every single day to start creating that. He had not even won a Grand Slam at this stage but he started to learn to believe. He told himself everyday “I am invincible.” He wrote it down everywhere to remind himself, and he even had it engraved on his mouth guard to remind himself every time he put it on.  He said it with passion, acted on with massive actions and intensity, and made sure he did absolutely everything – technically, tactically, physically, mentally, nutritionally and for his recovery too. He did not always believe but belief is a skill you work on every day too – just like you practice the skills of your sport or profession.
.
.
Follow your heart and chase your dreams. The power of our mind is incredible and it is your greatest weapon when you need it most. Nourish it daily!

Wishing you Invincible Success and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you want someone in your corner to help you achieve your dreams.
